How to Learn From Top Celebrities Diagnosed With Blood Disorders

We can certainly all learn a thing or two when it comes to celebrities. Whether it is our addiction to discovering the latest trend or finding out the latest spat, celebs play a large role in everyday society. But there are those celebs that have unfortunately been diagnosed with a number of different blood disorders. It is not only their courage but their will to succeed in spite of all the hindrances in their path. With every passing week, there is a new celeb controversy. Yet what can we learn from the sobering health battles of the rich and famous?

Robin Roberts

In 2012, this inspirational female suffered from what was known as myelodysplastic syndrome. Robin Roberts is best known as the main anchor on Good Morning America. Yet this very rare disorder forced her to have a bone marrow transplant. Yet she has shown;

• Lots of bravery to pretty much overcome this disease in spite of a short stay in hospital.
• The will to never give up where she is now back to her old self.
• How she battled through and overcame the odds.

Nene Leakes

Nene Leakes is a reality TV star and appears in the Real Housewives Of Atlanta. She was also very fortunate after some routine tests revealed that she appeared to have a series of blood clots on the lung. This was down to the fact that she had a gruelling schedule and that she had to travel around on a regular basis. Despite suffering from Pulmonary Embolism, Leakes has shown;

• Her genuine faith in God and her determination to get better.
• That once she recognised she needed help, she went straight to the doctors.
• That she has a close knit support network which is made up of both family and friends which has got her through.

Tim Shaw

Another impressive personality who managed to overcome all the odd was athlete Tim Shaw. He had the ability to claim a silver medal during the 1976 Olympic Games. He managed to do this in spite of the fact that he was suffering from a serious iron deficiency anaemia. This is all the more impressive as he did this at the same time as his actual illness. It just goes to show what a little motivation will do.

Michael York

Formerly the star of movies such as ‘Cabaret’ not to mention ‘Logan’s Run’ and the infamous Austin Powers franchise, Michael York had been struggling with a rare blood disorder in 2013. This was pretty serious and York had been fighting this rare disease which almost proved to be fatal. The son of a previous Royal Artillery officer managed to shake off most of the amyloidosis thanks to;

• Seeking out the very best health care which was largely in part down to visiting specialists including at the Cedars-Sinai hospital based in LA.
• Having his wife contact specialists in Minnesota who made the correct diagnosis and ensured the proper treatment.
• Being able to find the right doctors before the matter became irreparable.

Miles Davis

Considered to be one of the best trumpet players ever, Miles Davis played a key role as far as the music industry was concerned. Admired by millions of jazz lovers around the world, he also had sickle cell anaemia. Yet this did not detract from the adoration of many fans, although he did receive medical treatment to prolong his lifespan.

From these particular examples above, we can clearly see that despite the arduous situation these celebrities have faced. Yet this has demonstrated that with the right medical attention and willpower humans are capable of extraordinary things.
