How to Alleviate Back Pain and Strain Naturally

Back pains and strains can make it more difficult for you to perform everyday tasks and can negatively affect your quality of life. If you deal with pains and strains in your back regularly, there are some ways to relieve your discomfort that don’t involve medication or surgery. Here are some of the best natural methods for alleviating backaches.

Light Exercise

Strenuous exercise can cause more back pain, but doing some gentle workouts can help ease your discomfort. Exercising the right way can prevent your back muscles from stiffening up and causing further discomfort. Everyday Health suggests doing some easy stretches to see how far you can push yourself physically without feeling pain. You can also try going for a slow walk and picking up the pace gradually when it’s possible to do so.

Dietary Supplementation

Certain dietary supplements are known to help with back pains and strains. Many of these supplements come in pill form. Some people have found relief from lower back pain by taking devil’s claw root. You can also try applying a topical cream that contains comfrey to your back. Increasing your vitamin D intake by taking pills or consuming more dairy products may provide additional relief. Other recommended supplements include omega-3 fatty acids, turmeric, and capsaicin.

Soaking in a Hot Tub

Even just soaking in a hot tub can diminish backaches. The warm bubbling water will likely relieve your muscle tension. Most hot tubs have seats that allow you to sit and take some of the weight off your feet and back that might be contributing to your discomfort. Try to soak a few times a day for a few minutes at a time if you can. If you don’t have a hot tub of your own, you can visit a local health club or public pool to use theirs if they have one on their premises.

Try Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the safest and most effective natural methods for relieving back pain. This type of therapy involves a practitioner inserting a series of small needles just beneath the skin on certain areas of your back. These needles promote energy flow throughout the body by stimulating acupuncture points. Depending on your needs, your acupuncturists will personalize your treatment to give you the best results possible.

There are many natural solutions to back pains and strains, and you can experiment with different methods to find out what works best for you. You won’t have to be a slave to your discomfort anymore once you’ve found the key to relieving your backaches.
